Many private companies provide ground transportation from the airport to Alta, which is a great option if you are staying in the canyon. The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) also has scheduled public ski buses that carry skiers to and from Alta all winter.
Cottonwood Connect
Cottonwood Connect is a new reservation-based shuttle service on Thursdays–Sundays and holidays from January 26th through April 16th. To ensure your stress-free ride up the canyons, make your reservation today.
- Reservations are required to ride the Cottonwood Connect
- Cost is $10 per rider.
- All reservations are for round-trip only.
- Passengers can choose their time of departure and return pickup times from the resorts
- Passengers must keep their reserved schedule. Switching bus routes or return times will not be allowed.
UTA Ski Bus
Alta Ski Area is easily accessible via public transportation. From the airport, hotel or home. From Ogden to Park City to Provo, UTA has a way to get you to the mountains. When parking is full, the UTA Ski Bus may be the best way to get to Alta on busy days.
The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) is experiencing staffing shortages and hiring challenges. As a result of this ongoing shortage, UTA is making several emergency bus service adjustments.
UTA SKI BUS BENEFITS FOR SEASON PASSHOLDERS
2022–23 Alta season passes that include the UTA Benefit (now including Ikon passes) receive free ridership on all UTA Ski Bus Routes. Includes Trax and other UTA bus services only when used in transit with a Ski Bus Route.
*Use on TRAX or other UTA bus services without a Ski Bus Route may result in forfeiture of the UTA Benefit.
FREE UTA SKI BUS RIDES BETWEEN ALTA & SNOWBIRD
UTA operates a free Ski Bus route between Alta and Snowbird.
Service Dates:
- Start Date: December 11, 2022
- End Date: April 15, 2023
Ski Bus Routes:
- Route 953 – Will be suspended due to staffing shortages and hiring challenges (Use Route 994)
- Route 994 – Sandy to Snowbird and Alta
- Adjusted from 15-minute to 30-minute service
- Service begins at 6:15am and ends at 6:04pm
Airport & Canyon Shuttle Services
There are many companies that offer shuttles services to, and from, Alta. Little Cottonwood Canyon is often restricted to 4X4 vehicles with snow tires or chains. Please make sure your transportation company can get you to and from Alta during road restrictions and through inclement weather.

Ride-Sharing Apps
Uber and Lyft provide service in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Make sure to order an UberSki or Lyft Ski Rack if transporting ski gear. Please consider 4WD/Chain restrictions when utilizing a ride-share app and wear a mask.

The Ride Space App will not be available during the 2020-21 season due to COVID-19 guidelines.
